Who we are
BSC CCG is a commissioning organisation appointed by the Government to design and buy local health services for approximately 302,000 people in the south and centre of Birmingham.
We’re responsible for managing the contracts of:
We give part of our budget to University Hospital Birmingham (although this contract is managed by our neighbouring CCG, Birmingham Crosscity CCG). We also host the Children's Commissioning Team and the Birmingham Adults and Children's Safeguarding Team.
What our priorities are and how we are doing
We held a series of commissioning intentions events with the public to help reach a collaborative decision about our priorities. We also considered the hospital contracts we manage and the demographics of the population we serve. Our priorities are:
Mental health, Dementia, Diabetes, long term conditions, falls prevention and identifying people with latent TB.
Best Care, Best Place, Best Time…
‘Aspiring to work together with our partners and communities to improve long term health and wellbeing of our citizens, through clinical excellence, innovation, and person-centred leadership’
You can read about our priorities and plans in more depth in our Operational plan.
How we make decisions
BSC is a member organisation in every sense; this means local clinicians making local decisions with local people. Our organisation enables members to lead, innovate and make decisions with the communities they serve. From our Member Council and clinically-led Governing Body through to our six local Networks, BSC is designed to give grassroots GPs and practice staff the power to revolutionise commissioning.
We’re transforming engagement and collaboration. The patient is at the heart of everything we do because we believe that meaningful relationships lead to better commissioning. Being patient-centred means the voices and stories of patients shape our plans and priorities. See how you can get involved.
